We are soon heading out on a week long road trip with our toddler and I thought why not blog about this? As fun as all those cute Instagram stories and post look with your toddler, its an equally tedious task traveling with your toddler and even planning one in the first place!!

This blog is going to be about the things you can pack and leave on a road trip in India. Now we are going on a week long trip but we are not going anywhere extremely remote where basic essentials are not available. So I am looking to travel light and take only what is necessary and I will not take a chance with.

This blog is going to be mainly about what to pack for your baby, I will make another post for packing essentials for adults.

Clothes:

I would Ideally carry two sets of dresses for each day as we do not know about the washing and laundry scenes and babies tend to get their dresses dirty quite easily. Also carry quite comfortable outfits, checking the climate of the destination you are traveling to, plan and carry outfits accordingly.

(16 outfits for a 8 day trip)

Diapers:

If your toddler is not yet potty trained. Its better to carry diapers for the entire duration of the stay. If the place you are traveling to is well equipped with baby essentials you can always carry a small packet and keep purchasing as you run out of the stock

Paracetamol and nasal drops for the baby:

Medicines are always essential, a small bottle of crocin and saline nasal drops are totally essential these days and you never know at what time of the day or night you would need it. So its always good to have some on you.

Some baby snacks:

Its good to carry some snacks for the baby while on the move, They may not cooperate on all meal times and not necessarily follow their meal routine and thus get hungry at the most inconvenient times. Some dry fruits, cookies, Roasted Makhnas, chikkis, sugar free granola bars, etc

Some books and toys:

Grab the most favourite toy and book of your little one while you go. Boredom kills them and as they grow older they spend more and more time with their favourite toys and books. Some of the hard cover books, touch and feel books, etc are good to make your little ones also start their reading habit if not until now

Mosquito repellent creams/patches & sunscreen for the babies:

Now these are absolute must haves, Depending on where you are traveling and ideally its its a tropical destination and involves a lot of greenery and nature, There could be a lot of mosquitos and insects around and an insect repellent cream or patch is ideal. Sunscreen these days are a must no matter where you are traveling. Toddlers in my opinion can use sunscreen under normal conditions but would recommend you to check with their pediatrician once.

An extra pair of footwear:

They need a change of footwear too, Its better to take a pair of fully covered shoes or footwear and a pair that is open like floaters. If we are not attentive enough kids also tend to leave their footwear in places and they get lost easily.

The baby toiletries and oils:

Baby massage oils, coconut oil and baby toiletries like soaps and shampoos that you use go without saying. Coconut oil is an absolute essential and multifunctional oil for babies which I absolutely swear by.

Baby carriers and slings:

Well we hope you have practiced baby wearing, if not do it now!! no issues they are going to love it. with all the going around in unfamiliar territories they are going to want to be carried around a lot and you would want your hands to be free. So pack up a baby carrier or sling along with other things.

Its an absolute life saver and helps you enjoy your trip much more now.
